CONVERSATIONS AT THE WORKPLACE PROGRAM

Conversations at the WorkplaceOur four conversational English or French sessions focus on language important to 'soft' skills at the workplace.  The conversational sessions can be taken individually or as a series.  Emphasis is placed on oral proficiency and conversational skills, supported by the relevant grammar points.  Each session can include units that are particularly adapted to your industry.

SESSIONS

At the Water Cooler

The 20-hour session develops participants' interpersonal language skills, thereby making them feel more comfortable with using English or French.  The focus is on increasing participants' abilities to speak in casual situations about aspects of their work and personal life in person or over the telephone.

At Breaks, Lunches and Functions

The 20-hour session continues to build participants' confidence at gatherings inside and outside of the organization by focusing on a broader scope of the language used in social situations.  Exercises concentrate on the language used in performing functions at the workplace, discussing current events and Canadian business culture (including cultural awareness).

In Meeting with Colleagues and Clients

The 20-hour session strengthens participants' business language abilities. The focus is on boosting vocabulary and the language confidence of participants, through exercises that concentrate on proposing, delegating, gathering and giving information as well as challenging opinions.  Video taping is used to provide feedback.

Managing in Meetings

The 20-hour session continues to enhance participants' language abilities by focusing on a broader range of language used while participating in meetings. Negotiating, presenting, business idioms in the context of the multi-cultural Canadian workplace are concentrated on throughout the exercises and role-plays.  Video taping is used to provide feedback.
