The Intensive ESL program is excellent if you want to concentrate on improving all aspects of your English. You will focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.

In a typical week, the class will develop and improve your vocabulary, grammar, writing, reading, communication skills and fluency.
Schedule: 4 hours a day of in-class study. 1 hour of independent study. Focus: Developing your conversational and grammatical English skills for use in everyday situations. Topics include: going shopping, ordering at a restaurant, making
reservations, understanding TV shows and movies, giving presentations, current events, debating, slang and idioms.
Part-Time ESL
Part-Time ESL is a good course for those who want to focus on specific goals they are trying to achieve. For example if you want to improve the grammatical aspects of your English we suggest that you study only
Integrated Skills. If, however, you want to work on fluency and conversation you can join our Communication Skills classes.
You can take Part-Time ESL in conjunction with various other courses such as TOEIC, TOEFL, English for Business Management or Listening and Pronunciation.
Schedule: 2 hours a day of in-class study. Focus: A choice of improving Integrated Skills or Communication Skills.
TOEIC and TOEFL Exam Preparation
Canada House specially designs examination preparation to meet the needs of each student. Students take practice exams at Canada House
throughout the course. Small classes allow students to speak more with the teacher.
We offer only new laptop battery for Sony notebook.
TOEIC (the Test of English for International Communication) is an important qualification for those of you who need to prove your
proficiency in English to related work situations. The small class size provides the opportunities for a lot of personalized attention. This attention
will help to improve your score rapidly. Combining TOEIC with English for Business Management or Intensive ESL will further help raise your score.
Schedule: 2 hours a day of in-class study. Focus: practicing the listening, reading and grammar skills necessary to improve your TOEIC score. Topics include: vocabulary building, understanding business letters and
memos, current business events and advanced grammatical structures.
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is an examination for those of you who wish to apply to a North American university or college.
The small classes ensure plenty of personalized attention from the teachers. Combining TOEFL with Academic Preparation or Intensive ESL will further help raise your score.
Schedule: 2 hours a day of in-class study. Focus: test-taking strategies to help raise your score. Topics include: academic vocabulary building, real-life university
material, listening strategies and advanced grammatical structures.

Academic Preparation
This course is designed for those of you who are at
an Intermediate level or higher and who need to use English in an academic situation. The course prepares you for attending courses at a post-secondary level. The course also gives you
additional valuable training if you plan to write the TOEFL exam
Schedule: 2 hours a day of in-class study. One hour of independent study. Focus: preparing students for study at a university or college. Topics include: listening and note-taking in lectures, reading and writing
academic text, thesis and journal writing and predicting the content of lectures.
English for Business Management
This course is designed for those of you who are at an Intermediate level or higher and who need to use English in a business or commercial setting
or for students entering post-secondary business studies. The course can be taken with other courses at Canada House such as Intensive ESL, TOEIC, TOEFL or Listening and Pronunciation.
Schedule: 2 hours of in-class study per day. 1 hour of independent study. Focus: understanding business from a Canadian perspective. Topics include: resumes, job interviews, meeting, negotiations,
presentations, marketing, sales, telephone dialogues and letter-writing.
Listening and Pronunciation
This course is designed for those of you in need of reducing your accent, improve your overall pronunciation skills and enhance your understanding
of spoken English. This course can be taken with other courses at Canada House such as Intensive ESL, TOEFL, TOEIC, and English for Business Management.
Schedule: 2 hours a day of in-class study. Focus: The program focuses on pronunciation practice and listening strategies. Topics include: word stress, intonation, rhythm and identifying problem
sounds.
Executive English
We offer a solution to busy professionals who
do not have a lot of time to spend in an English speaking country learning English. Our programs are intensive, practical and professional. Our goal is to help you to improve your fluency and boost your
confidence in business and everyday English. Also, you will gain insight into North American business styles.
The Programs
English for Business
This program focuses on Business English writing, reading, vocabulary and comprehension as well as oral communication. Through simulations,
role plays and video-taping, you will practice skills such as telephone conversations, giving presentations and negotiating.
English for Communication
This program includes accent reduction, grammar, vocabulary and conversation classes that focus on the newly learned elements. Also, we
focus on North American corporate culture and social customs. You will work with real-life materials such as videos, newspapers, magazines, radio and TV shows in conjunction with a textbook.
Activities
We will arrange for activities through local tour companies for small numbers of participants. For larger groups, we can organize an activities
package which could include a visit to the CN Tower, tours of Niagara Falls, the wine and beer making region as well as professional sports, theatre and museum tours.
Specialized Studies
Canada House offers you a chance to combine any of the above programs with the Intensive ESL Program to study 6 hours daily.
After-School Workshops
Canada House offers afternoon and evening workshops on a variety of interesting topics.
The workshops are designed to help you improve your English. Workshops include: film, music, creative writing, reading and the study of media.
The Workshops are free and you can join them after you arrive at our school.
Free E-Mail and Internet
Canada House offers students free use of our computers for exploring the Internet and sending e-mail. This service is free of charge.

Canada House will custom design tours for groups of four or more students sponsored by companies or professional organizations. Curriculum and content are designed in consultation with clients and focus
on language skills for on-the-job performance and technology or information transfer. Contact the school and tell us your needs, for further information.
Homestays and Other Accommodation
Canada House provides students with several choices of accommodation:
- Students can live with a Canadian family in a "homestay." Each family is carefully selected to help you feel welcome and at home in
Toronto. This is a great way to learn about Canadian culture! Longer-term students can choose to stay in an apartment-hotel in downtown Toronto. Apartments are located close to shopping,
school, restaurants and the subway.
- Residence accommodations are available in university dormitories close to the school in June, July, and August.
- Hostels welcome students from all over the world at very affordable rates.
ABOUT HOMESTAYS
Homestay provides an excellent opportunity for you to learn about Canadian culture. We provide quality homestay services for those of you who want a safe place to live while experiencing the language and culture
in a family atmosphere.
Our homestay service includes:
- Interview and screening of all families to ensure quality.
- Over 500 families in our database
- 3 meals a day
- A private room with a bed and a desk
- You will not share a homestay with another student from you country.
- Special requests are available. (i.e. vegetarian meals or families with no children)
- You will be interviewed on the first day of class to make sure you are comfortable and satisfied.
- Weekly monitoring of you and your host family to guarantee
satisfaction throughout your homestay.
All of our families live within an average time of 30 minutes by public transit to our school. The maximum time you will travel by public transit to our school is 45 minutes.
Host families live in safe areas of Toronto within walking distance of bus, subway or streetcar.
Ensuring your satisfaction in homestay is very important to us.
